Searching for Newsgroups with Microsoft Outlook Express

1. Click on the news server to select it. The main pane of Microsoft Outlook Express will present you with options to synchronize your account and alter other settings.

2. Click the "Newsgroups" button at the top of Outlook Express.

3. A new window titled "Newsgroup Subscriptions" should appear. To be sure you have the most current list of available newsgroups, click the "Reset List" button at the far right of the window. Another window will appear while the list of newsgroups loads.

4. The "Newsgroup Subscriptions" window will now be populated with thousands of newsgroups. In the field titled "Display newsgroups which contain:" enter the terms you wish to search for. For example, entering "aviation" will only display newsgroups that have the word "aviation" in their name.

5. From this point, you can subscribe to newsgroups by simply double clicking a newsgroup. An icon of a folder with a note tacked to it will confirm that you have subscribed to the group.

6. Once you have subscribed to all of the newsgroups you desire, click OK. The newsgroups will now appear in the leftmost pane beneath your news server.
