What is a Newsgroup?
Put simply, a newsgroup is an online discussion forum where individuals can post and reply to articles viewable by all members of a specific newsgroup.
Many individual topics have their own unique newsgroups where all relevant discussions take place.
Conceptually, you can think of Usenet as similar to the world-wide-web, while newsgroups are similar to individual sites on the web. Usenet is one of many networks available on the broader Internet. Usenet and newsgroups operate on a transitory storage basis where storage is finite and the newest posts replace the oldest posts in each newsgroup.
