Backbone

Backbone refers to the main "pipes" that Internet data travels on from one network to another (example: from Giganews to your computer). Giganews maintains multiple connections to Internet backbones. These connections are also referred to as backbone connections. By providing multiple connections to Internet backbones Giganews is supporting a "multi-homed network". A multi-homed network allows Giganews to choose the best path to route your downloads so that you'll get the fastest speeds possible. In addition to ensuring fast download speeds, supporting multiple backbone connections also allows Giganews to maintain redundancy which helps ensure our service is always available.."

My ISP has that "other" newsgroups service. Their newsgroups retention time is 2 days at best, and headers are often not complete. Your prices are fair, speed is right on the money, and I always STAY connected, something my ISP's news server has big problems doing.
