Lock-in $29.99 Diamond price before March 31st

Diamond membership is increasing from $29.99 to $34.99 after March 31st, but only for new Diamond accounts. That means if you come back, upgrade or create a new Diamond account on or before March 31st, you will lock-in the $29.99 price!

Please note that for current Diamond customers, your price will NOT increase. Whether you have been a customer for 10 years or one month, if you are a Diamond customer on or before March 31st, 2011 your Diamond price will remain $29.99.

The Giganews Diamond account is the most feature-rich Usenet account in the world. Not only does it come with unlimited downloads, unlimited speed, the highest completion rates and longest retention in the world, it also includes the Mimo Usenet Browser + Search and VyprVPN at no additional cost.

Due to overwhelming response to the $29.99 lock in price, we postponed the price increase for three additional months on January 1st, 2011, but we just can’t extend it any further. During the past three months, we were hard at work making the world’s best Usenet plan even better:
We are very excited about these improvements and hope everyone takes advantage of the special $29.99 lock-in price before March 31st, 2011, by signing up or logging into the control panel to upgrade now.

Again, current Diamond customers' price will NOT increase. Your price will remain $29.99 if you are a Diamond customer on or before March 31st, 2011.

VyprVPN - Including OpenVPN and NAT Firewall - Now Available to all Giganews Members

Today, we are pleased to announce that every Giganews customer, from Diamond on down, can add Golden Frog’s full suite of VyprVPN personal VPN services to their Giganews account, including OpenVPN and NAT Firewall.

In March 2010, we announced our partnership with Golden Frog and introduced Diamond members to VyprVPN using PPTP - an older, basic VPN protocol. On February 9th, 2011, we added VyprVPN’s L2TP/IPsec protocol to the Diamond Account at no additional cost.

Over the past year, Diamond members have enjoyed VyprVPN’s increased security. Many Diamond members have asked for the full suite of Golden Frog’s privacy tools and we listened. Today, Giganews Diamond members can purchase the following VPN options:
  • OpenVPN: $5/month
  • NAT Firewall: $5/month
In addition, all other Giganews accounts can add VyprVPN’s personal VPN service to their service. VyprVPN PPTP and L2TP/IPsec will continue to be included at no additional cost with our premium Diamond account. Other accounts can purchase the following VPN options:
  • PPTP + L2TP/IPsec: $10/month
  • PPTP + L2TP/IPSec + OpenVPN: $15/month
  • NAT Firewall: $5/month (requires a VPN protocol option)

All current members can manage their VyprVPN services through the Giganews Control Panel. New customers can sign up for a Giganews Usenet account to get started. A Usenet account is required to add VyprVPN and NAT Firewall.

What is OpenVPN?
OpenVPN is the premier VPN protocol designed for modern broadband networks, providing the best speed and stability.

Highlights:
  • SSL/TLS encryption standard – the same standard used by secure e-commerce sites
  • 256-bit encryption – same strength used by financial institutions
  • Consistent speeds over long-distance networks between countries and continents
  • Extremely stable and fast over wireless networks, including Wi-Fi, cellular and wireless ISPs
  • More easily passes through NAT configurations (e.g. wireless routers) and corporate firewalls
  • Less CPU usage resulting in faster speeds and less latency.

What is NAT Firewall?
NAT Firewall is a packet filter that prevents third parties from exploiting security vulnerabilities. You must add a VyprVPN VPN option to purchase NAT Firewall.

Highlights:
  • Prevents inbound connections from accessing your device
  • Mimics the behavior of a wireless router to maintain protection against outside threats
  • Blocks malware and malicious hackers from probing your device for network vulnerabilities

700 Days of Binary Retention and Counting

Giganews is excited to be the first Usenet provider with 700 days of high-quality binary retention!

When it comes to Usenet service, high-quality binary retention and superior completion rates aren’t features a Usenet provider can have at the snap of a finger. This level of service is no sudden decision; it begins as a conscious decision to build the highest quality Usenet experience possible.

At Giganews, we maintain a history of innovating in order to give you the best possible Usenet experience. From Giganews Accelerator to VyprVPN, we continue to offer new Usenet features as we increase retention. Check out the Giganews timeline below:

Giganews Timeline

Our people
A strong foundation starts with the people behind the service – here at Giganews we’re passionate about Usenet and we’re driven to constantly find new ways to improve the entire Usenet experience. From service and technicians to our network and infrastructure, we do it all as full-time employees on an in-house network. No part of Giganews Usenet service is contracted or outsourced.

Our service
Whether an article is a day old or 700 days old, we created a system we would want to use: service with 100% completeness, availability and unlimited speed. Most Usenet providers lack the infrastructure and in-house technical professionals needed to support long-term, high-quality retention. When they push their system to the limit, it fails and their members experience downtimes, incomplete articles and missing retention. Our system is built from the ground up, and we run it on our own in-house, multi-redundant network of servers.

We’d like to hear from you. Get in the conversation by commenting below.
